Functions of Valves

1. To control opening and closing, by opening to allow fluid flow and closing to stop fluid flow.

2. To control or adjust flow rate, by partially opening the valve flap to control and adjust the flow rate to the desired amount.

3. To control the direction of fluid flow, by changing the path of fluid flow as needed or diverting the fluid to flow around unwanted equipment for a period of time.

4. To prevent backflow of fluid, by closing the valve flap when fluid flows back in the same direction, preventing it from re-entering the system.
